Diesel Black Gold’s womenswear creative director Andreas Melbostad is to take on the creative oversight of the brand’s entire output.
Melbostad, who joined the business in October 2012, is taking on responsibility for the men’s collection and overall brand image immediately. His first menswear collection as overall creative director will be revealed in autumn 14.
Before joining Diesel Black Gold, the Norwegian designer was creative director of Phi. He also worked as senior designer at Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Nina Ricci and he collaborated with Alber Elbaz both on the Guy Laroche and Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche collections.
He said: “I am looking forward to my expanded role at Diesel Black Gold. I am excited to have the opportunity to work on building cohesive collections for both men and women. It is an opportunity to create a singular vision for Diesel Black Gold and a strong distinct voice.”
