Menswear designers awarded Fashion Forward sponsorship

Christopher Shannon, E.Tautz, J.W. Anderson and James Long are the menswear labels that have been awarded Fashion Forward sponsorship to show at the first London Collections: Men next month.

It is the first time the sponsorship has been dedicated for a group of menswear designers. The winners will receive business support provided by the British Fashion Council (BFC) and a cash prize to help them show their spring 13 collections.

Now in its sixth year, Fashion Forward, supported by the Mayor of London, was established to provide funding to emerging British designer businesses. The winners of this year’s award will show at London Collections: Men which will take place from June 14 to 17.

Caroline Rush, chief executive officer of the BFC, said: “With the upcoming launch of the inaugural London Collections: Men, we felt the time was right to increase showcasing and business support to this incredibly talented group of young menswear designers, ensuring we support them through the next stage of their businesses. We’re delighted to be awarding Fashion Forward sponsorship to four of London’s menswear designers to show this June.”

Designer Christopher Shannon said it was “rewarding” to be one of the first menswear designers to receive the award. He added: “There is now an incredible network of support which means designers can finally turn collections and ideas into viable businesses, I hope it all continues to grow and develop.”
