Menswear drives John Lewis fashion sales up 1.8%

Menswear and sportswear had another strong week at John Lewis, with sales up 11.7% in the period to May 16.

Branded men’s casualwear was up 21.8%. Overall fashion sales were up 1.8% year on year.

Including home and electricals, John Lewis’s sales rose 1.6% to £70.32m during the week. Online sales were up 12.1%.

David Barford, director of selling for London and the South, said: “This week sees the run up to another bank holiday weekend where we are well placed to optimise customer experience opportunities across all of our shopping channels.”
