Berwin vows Bäumler spring deliveries will be on time

Berwin & Berwin managing director Simon Berwin, the new owner of German menswear brand Bäumler, has reassured stockists that spring 10 deliveries will arrive as scheduled.

The Bäumler name and spring 10 order book was rescued from administration by suit specialist Berwin & Berwin, in partnership with Bäumler’s UK agent Jason Gerrard, on November 5, as revealed by

Berwin added that one of the principal reasons for the joint deal was Gerrard’s “20-year experience” in the business, which would ensure the brand could continue
to run smoothly and that it
would be “business as usual” for its 150 UK stockists, which include Moss Bros.

Berwin added that he would take the brand back to its tailoring basics. “We want this to be a formal offer, not a lifestyle offer,” he said.

He added that some manufacturing would relocate from Hungary to the Far East for the spring 11 collection. Berwin said it was too early to tell if there would be price changes as a result, but
that there could be some benefits to stockists.

Under the terms of the deal, Gerrard will oversee the design and sales of the brand, while Berwin & Berwin will run operations and manufacturing.
