Merc appoints UK chief to drive sales

Young fashion brand Merc has appointed Andy Tompsett as the head of its UK business with a brief to grow sales of the brand in the UK.

Tompsett, the former European sales chief at Alpha Industries, has already set about expanding the sales team with the appointment of Andrew Setten, former Peter Werth sales agent, to handle the South East and South West. Gordon Parr will continue to cover the North East and North West and Keith Walpole will continue to handle East Anglia and the Midlands.

Tompsett was at young fashion brand Alpha Industries, where he was European sales and marketing director for nine years.

Merc will be exhibiting at Stitch Menswear London, held at Earls Court from August 7 – 9, for the first time to highlight the brand’s plans for developing its UK market and preview its spring 12 collection, which it is also showing at Bread & Butter next week. Key pieces include short summer jackets, floral prints shirts and smart casual shorts.
