Merc to open new London flagship

Men’s young fashion brand Merc is to close its Carnaby Street store next month with plans to open a relocated flagship store.

The brand has occupied the store at 10 Carnaby Street for 20 years and with the lease coming up for renewal at the end of September Merc has decided to move onto another location.

Head of UK Andy Tompsett could not reveal the location of Merc’s new flagship but said a new store would open within the next six months. “We’re looking at three different options,” said Tompsett. “You are certainly going to see us in a very prominent position.”

The brand also launched a mobile optimised website last week which Tompsett said had got off to a flying start.

“We’ve never sold so much autumn product during August before,” said Tompsett.
