Mexx bolsters European management team to accelerate turnaround

Mexx has appointed Tom Fitzgerald as interim chief executive and John Moore as consulting vice president creative, to accelerate the turnaround of the business in Europe.

Fitzgerald, who will continue in his role as senior vice president of direct brands services at Liz Claiborne, which owns Mexx, replaces Jeff Fardell.

Fardell will take the new role of senior vice president and managing director, market development for Liz Claiborne. The company is looking for a permanent chief executive for Mexx.

Moore, who joins from Mossimo's Modern Amusement brand, where he was vice president and creative director, has taken the role of consulting vice president creative, with immediate effect. Moore will oversee all design, product development and merchandising at Mexx.

Liz Claiborne chief executive William L. McComb said: "The Mexx turnaround process is at a critical juncture and we believe product enhancements, structural changes and new leadership are necessary to reinvigorate the brand and improve performance."
