Michael Kors has poached Hugo Boss stalwart Marcel Ostwald for its newly created senior vice president of menswear role, as the US brand looks to grow the category.
Ostwald, who will take up the position on August 1, has spent the last 11 years at Hugo Boss.
Since July 2012 he has been senior head of creative management and concept design for Boss Sportswear.
He also served as head of creative management and product manager, working across tailored clothing, shoes, leather and accessories.
Before Hugo Boss, Ostwald was a menswear designer for German clothing business Joop! between March 2001 and December 2003.
Michael Kors chairman and chief executive John D Idol said the appointment shows the company’s intent to build “a substantial, global men’s business”.
