Mike Ashley eyes £30m Brixton market takeover

Sports Direct is reportedly the frontrunner to snap up Brixton’s covered markets in a £30m deal.

Brixton Village and Market Row are home to 140 retailers and restaurants in south London.

The purchase would likely be made through a Sports Direct vehicle, rather than by founder Mike Ashley himself, according to the Evening Standard.

The talks come months after it emerged that a company with links to Sports Direct had bought land in central Brixton, bordered by two railway lines.
