Missguided has hired a new retail director, Andy Marsh, and is working with property consultant and former Abercrombie & Fitch UK property boss Richard Collyer on a plan to roll out UK stores.
The Manchester-based young fashion etailer has also appointed property agent Savills to look for locations across the UK and internationally.
Marsh spent almost four years at young fashion brand Bench, latterly as chief retail officer from June 2014 to December 2015, before joining Missguided earlier this month.
He was previously head of retail at womenswear retailer Select from November 2009 to August 2012 and held senior roles at Blacks Leisure Group and Moss Bros.
Missguided is looking at high profile central London locations as some of the first in its retail rollout, according to Drapers’ sister title Retail Week.
Chief executive Nitin Passi told Drapers: ”We are delighted to welcome Andy Marsh to the Missguided team and whilst there is nothing concrete, we will continue to explore all options of how we can give the customer better access to the brand both in the UK and internationally.”
Chief financial officer Paul Masters said in April last year that bricks-and-mortar stores could be a possibility in future. It came after sales increased by 70% to £86m in the year to March 31 2015, while profits hit £5.5m compared with £900,000 in 2014.
“We will look at all channels that are open to our consumer,” said Masters. “Our focus is on our own site, but we may well look at standalone stores in the future, if it makes sense for the business.”
The company made its first UK move into bricks and mortar with a concession in Selfridges at Manchester’s Trafford Centre in June. Passi said: “We have a strong brand and great product. Selfridges allows us to align ourselves with another great brand, test the product in-store and allow our customers to touch it. It’s our own staff and our own stock – we trade the store.”
