Missguided reviews store portfolio

Missguided is reassessing its UK retail footprint and is potentially looking to scale back its two UK stores to focus on its core online business, Drapers understands.

The Manchester-based fast fashion business is thought to be considering a series of options to address its retail footprint, which could include reducing the size of its stores in Westfield Stratford City and Bluewater.

Drapers understands the retailer is in negotiations with landlords Land Securities and Westfield, although no decisions have yet been taken.

Missguided opened its first store in Westfield Stratford City in November 2016 and a second UK store followed in Bluewater shopping centre in June last year.

The Westfield Stratford store is approximately 20,000 sq ft and the Bluewater store is 16,000 sq ft.

Missguided is launching franchise stores and an online offer in the Middle East with partner Azadea next year.

The etailer plans to roll out stores, websites and a click-and-collect service in United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt.

  • Does this company have a strategy? One minute they are rolling out retail, in the UK and recently announcing footprint into the Middle East, then they announce its reviewing it. They have no idea what they are doing! Senior leaders are hired and leave within a few months - this is all reported on Drapers so hardly a secret that they cannot keep their staff.
