Monsoon is replacing loyalty cards with a smartphone app that will digitally “collect” points.
The new app, developed by Ikano, is expected to keep costs down for the retailer, as well as enabling a higher level of interaction with the customer. Features include more reward options, links to social media such as Twitter and Facebook, and using geo location functionality to drive footfall.
It follows research conducted by Ikano suggesting 54% of customers thought a phone-based loyalty system was a good idea.
Existing customers will be able to add their accounts to the app, carrying across their remaining loyalty points.Customers will be able to view their reward balance and update personal details at the touch of a button, as well as search for their local Monsoon store of a three mile radius anywhere in the country.
The free app is available to download across a multiple of smartphone platforms including the iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Windows 7 and mobile web boasting a number of features.
