Moss Bros hires first customer director

Moss Bros has become the latest retailer to appoint a customer director, with the hire of former BSkyB director Debbie Bond.

Bond, who has worked as a consultant for the past five months and has a worked for a range of retailers including Tesco, Sainsbury’s and River Island, will take up the role on Monday. She will report into chief operating officer Paula Minowa.

The hire of Bond is the latest top board appointment for menswear group Moss Bros, which has been bolstering its management team.

Charles Tyrwhitt finance director Tony Bennett joined as group finance director in August, while former Ann Summers managing director Paula Minowa was brought in to improve the customer journey in a newly created chief operating officer role.

Moss Bros chief executive Brian Brick told Drapers: “As we become a multichannel retailer we need to ensure that we are one channel. We want to grow online and we want to do it as a cohesive business.”

Last month, River Island promoted marketing director Josie Roscop to the newly created role of customer director, while House of Fraser appointed Maddie Melson to the new position of director of customer insight.
