Moss Bros looks to rental for growth

Menswear retailer Moss Bros is “investing millions” in its hire service in order to fuel future growth.

The retailer is rebranding its hire business as “rental” and is hoping to attract a younger shopper who wants to rent suits for everyday rather than special occasions, according to The Evening Standard.

Moss Bros suits are traditionally hired for weddings but the retailer wants customers to hire for job interviews and nights out.

As previously reported by Drapers clothing rental services could be the next big trend to disrupt UK department stores and shopping centres, following a new partnership in the US between luxury department store Neiman Marcus and online retailer Rent The Runway.

Neiman Marcus opened its first Rent The Runway boutique in its San Francisco store in November, with more to follow next year, as part of a bid to attract more millennial shoppers and counteract declining sales.
