Mothercare Ireland returns to profit

Mothercare’s operating profit in Ireland returned to the black last year, reaching €79,421 (£57,786), despite revenue declining 3.5% from €36.89m (£26.84m) to €35.62m (£25.92m) in the 12 months to March 2014.

In its most recent accounts Mothercare (Ireland) Ltd and subsidiaries recorded a turnaround from an operating loss of more than half a million euros during the previous year.

According to the directors’ report for Mothercare Ireland: “The directors are satisfied with the results for the year and look forward to improving profitability in the coming periods.”

The accounts show a pre-tax loss of €10,579 (£7,698) across its 20 Irish stores, following interest payable of €90,000 (£65,492).
