M&S hires new clothing and home supply chain director

Marks & Spencer has hired former Morrisons group property director Gordon Mowat for the newly created role of clothing and home supply chain, logistics and planning director.

Mowat’s previous roles include interim chief operating officer at Jack Wills for a year – a position he left in June 2016.

He worked most recently as chief transformation officer at healthcare business Integrated Dental Holdings, before departing after five months in December.

In 2011 Mowat took on the role of group strategy director at Morrisons, where he also worked as managing director for convenience before becoming its group property director in 2014. He left the supermarket chain in April 2015.

Mowat will take up his new role at M&S in August, and will report to incoming managing director of clothing and home Jill McDonald.

An M&S spokeswoman said: “Gordon brings extensive logistics, supply chain and wider strategic experience to the role, having held positions in retail and customer-facing organisations.”

  • Lots more well paid execs join the gravy train to try and stem the decline. Sound strategy for Rowe. Others to blame?
