M&S launches recycled suit

M&S’s menswear team has launched a recycled wool blend suit for autumn 17.

The new product, called the “Shwop” suit, is made with 55% recycled wool.

The wool, which includes customer donations made through its in-store clothes recycling initiative with Oxfam, is woven into the suit fabric at Italian family-run mill Nova Fides.

The suit, which is being sold online and in stores, is available in five colours: charcoal, blue, navy, neutral and green.

Its retail price is £149, with a three-piece option also available.

The product has been designed as part of M&S’s 2025 sustainability plan, where it has vowed to use at least 25% recycled materials in a quarter of its clothing and home products.

  • £149 is a no mans land when it comes to suiting. M&S should be selling better quality suits for around £250 - £300 at the very least.
