Marks & Spencer will open its first store in Beijing today, as part of its strategy to increase its number of flagships in large cities..
The high street chain said the new 1,500 square metre store, located at The Place shopping mall, would sell edited collections of womenswear, menswear, lingerie and kidswear as well as 1,200 food and drink products.
M&S first revealed the move in March 2015 on the same day its regional director for Asia Bruce Findlay annouced his departure.
It will build on the business’s existing presence through its online sites on Chinese marketplaces Tmall.com and JD.com.
M&S has around 10 stores in the Shanghai region and about 20 in Hong Kong.
