Mulberry signs up for joint venture in Japan

British luxury brand Mulberry is launching a joint venture partnership with Japanese company Onward Global Fashion (OGF).

The venture, which will be called Mulberry Japan, will be headquartered in Tokyo.

It will manage all retail, digital fulfilment and wholesale distribution for the Japanese market.

The two partners will invest £2.8m in the venture’s share capital to develop its distribution network and build the brand’s presence in Japan.

Mulberry Japan is expected to be operational later this year.

Mulberry chief executive Thierry Andretta said in a statement: “In OGF we have a partner which has extensive luxury goods experience and a robust infrastructure which will enable us to advance our international retail and omni-channel strategy in this key market.”
