Australian flash Sale site MySale has bought rival sites OO.com.au, Deals Direct and Top Buy from the fellow Australian ecommerce group Grays for A$5.3m (£2.4m).
The three sites have circa 3.1 million average monthly visits, an email database of 6.5 million customers and 512,000 unique active customers, of which only 50,000 overlap with its existing active customer base.
The acquisition also includes the domain names OO.com.au, dealsdirect.com.au and topbuy.com.au and all associated customer databases, intellectual property, trademarks and goodwill.
MySale Group chief executive Carl Jackson said: “Strategically this is a great opportunity to substantially grow our active unique customer base in Australia and it fits with our strategy of widening our online proposition to leverage our existing assets (being OzSale and Buy Invite).
“The sites being acquired are all well-recognised brands in their own right, with a female-weighted customer base. There is very little overlap with our existing member base, so there is also a good opportunity to cross-sell our core fashion offering.”
The deal is expected to complete in January next year.
MySale returned to profit in the six months to June 30, with an underlying EBITDA of A$200,000 (£91,622).
For the full year to June 30 the etailer made a loss of A$11.2m (£5.1m) in line with guidance, down from an underlying EBITDA profit of A$5.9m (£2.7m) in 2014. Sales were up 5% year on year to A$235.9m (£108m).
