N Brown raids Shop Direct for womenswear buying director

N Brown has appointed Shop Direct’s Julie Donnelly as its new womenswear buying and design director, Drapers can reveal.

Donnelly will join N Brown next spring and report into product director Ralph Tucker. She will be responsible for overseeing buying and product design for JD Williams and its stablemate, Simply Be.

Donnelly has spent most of her career to date at Shop Direct Group, most recently as head of global supply management.

She was previously womenswear buying director for brands and private label, and was responsible for introducing various own-label brands to the group, including Day to Dusk and Love Label. She will take over from Linda Quinn, who is expected to leave N Brown before Christmas.

Tucker said: “[Julie]brings with her a wealth of expertise, design know-how and a strong sense of commerciality as well as a huge commitment to team development.”
