Natalie Massenet, Jacqueline Gold and Helen Dickinson receive New Year Honours

Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet has been made a Dame in the New Year 2016 honours list.

Massenet has been made a Dame for services to the fashion and retail industries. She already held an MBE.

The 2016 list also includes Ann Summers and Knickerbox chief executive Jacqueline Gold who has been awarded a CBE. Gold received the accolade for services to entrepreneurship, women in business and social enterprise. British Retail Consortium chief executive Helen Dickinson has received an OBE for services to the retail industry. 

Alison Lewy, founder of business mentoring and training firm Fashion Angel, also received an MBE for services to the fashion industry alongside Angus Cundey, chairman of Savile Row tailoring business Henry Poole & Co, who has received an MBE for services to bespoke tailoring. Also on the list awarded MBEs are Christopher Mark Fenwick, chariman of the store group for political service and Craig Gordon Videler, who has been a significant fundraiser for Retail Trust, for services to charities.

A CBE is the Commander of the Order of the British Empire, awarded for having a prominent but lesser role at national level, or a leading role at regional level. You can also get one for a distinguished, innovative contribution to any area. An OBE is a an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, given for having a major local role in any activity, while an MBE is Member of the Order of the British Empire, bestowed for a significant achievement or outstanding service to the community.
