New & Lingwood acquired by US investors

Menswear brand house New & Lingwood has been bought by US investment firm Pop Capital for an undisclosed sum.

New & Lingwood , which has a store on London’s Jermyn Street, was founded in 1865 and produces Bowring Arundel shirts and Poulsen Skone shoes, as well as manufacturing bespoke suits.

The former owner of the business, South African entrepreneur Anthony Spitz, will remain at the firm as chairman to support a new global expansion strategy. The Spitz family will maintain a minority stake in the new holding company.

Cavendish Corporate Finance advised the shareholders of New & Lingwood on the sale, and Merlin Partners assisted Pop Capital in raising capital.
