New boss at Monsoon Accessorize as Browett exits

Monsoon Accessorize has promoted finance director Paul Allen to interim chief executive with immediate effect, as John Browett steps down.

Allen joined the company in early 2013 and was previously chief executive of womenswear retailer Jacques Vert. He joined Jacques Vert as finance director following senior roles at Price Waterhouse (now PwC).

Former Dixons and Apple retail boss Browett was appointed chief executive of the womenswear and accessories retailer in February 2013 and has left to pursue other opportunities.

Browett, who left Apple in 2012 after just six months as its senior vice president of retail, won praise for his turnaround of electricals chain Dixons but had no background in fashion.

Monsoon Accessorize founder Peter Simon said: “We are fortunate to have such a strong leader in Paul, who has a broad experience of retail, international and ecommerce operations, all of which are integral to our growth.

“We would like to thank John for his hard work over the past two years and his success in building a strong team to take the business forward.”

Allen added: “I am pleased to take on this role and look forward to working with the team as we strengthen the business and work to deliver growth.”
