New etailer selling UK-only brands to launch

A new etailer called Studio British which focuses solely on UK brands is launching in September.

Studio British’s site is expected to open with a roster of 12 labels including Mackintosh, Johnstons of Elgin, Sanders & Sanders, Private White VC and John Smedley.

The line-up is rounded off by Pringle of Scotland, Gloverall, Trickers, Genevieve Sweeney, Fibre & Hide, Baia Bags and Yull.

The etailer will stock menswear, womenswear, footwear and accessories broadly targeted at 30 to 55 year-olds.

It will operate with a wholesale model for established brands and a marketplace model for emerging designers.

Studio British founder Anabel Calvo told Drapers: “We’re focusing on brands that care about the provenance of its clothing. We believe in supporting UK manufacturing and turning away from fast fashion to slow, sustainable fashion.”

Calvo said the etailer will focus on key markets in the UK, the rest of Europe, the US and Asia, particularly Japan and South Korea.
