New initiatives at LFW to focus on emerging talent

The Exhibition at London Fashion Week will feature 44 designers and a new initiative called Demure Untamed, showcasing luxurious and avant-garde accessories designers this season.

The Demure Untamed sub-section is curated by international sales agent Valery Demure in partnership with the British Fashion Council. Exhibitors in the section include newcomers Alexis Mabille and Anna Vince, as well as established names such as Scott Wilson, House of Flora and Husam el Odeh.

The Exhibition at LFW will also feature the third edition of Estethica, the section dedicated to ethical fashion. It will showcase 25 companies producing fair trade, organic or recycled pieces and will be sponsored for the first time by Monsoon. The sponsorship deal will run until autumn 08.

"The Exhibition at London Fashion Week is the world's most directional designer exhibition," said BFC chief executive Hilary Riva. "New initiatives such as Demure Untamed and Estethica complement the strength of design talent at the heart of the exhibition, while providing additional interest and intrigue for buyers and press."

The Designers and Agents area returns with a selection of emerging design talent from the US. This season it will include showcases from Iben Hoj, Park Vogel, Pyrus, Dolce Vita Footwear, Fontana Blue and Odd Molly.

The Glasgow: Scotland With Style Design Collective section, which offers financial support to designers who are based in or who were born in Glasgow to show at LFW, will feature at the fair for the third time. Designers showing include Aimee McWilliams, Brazen, Jamie Bruski Tetsill, Jennifer Lang and Vidler & Nixon.

The Exhibition at LFW takes place on September 16-19 at the Natural History Museum in London.
