New Look creates UK managing director role for Danny Barrasso

New Look has promoted Danny Barrasso to the newly-created position of UK managing director.

Barrasso has been at New Look since August 2012 and is currently chief executive Anders Kristiansen’s executive assistant.

Prior roles include managing director at software business Knexus and a stint at Hilton Worldwide as senior director of ecommerce. His position as managing director is effective immediately, according to Drapers sister title Retail Week.

Barrasso’s promotion comes as part of a raft of appointments and reshuffles at the retailer. New Look appointed former Tesco group finance director Mike Iddon as its new chief financial officer earlier this week. Iddon will start his role later this year, with Richard Collyer staying in the role of interim chief financial officer until he joins.

New Look said the position was created “to reflect the structure that is already in place in our overseas territories including China and Poland.”

Kristiansen also said this week the retailer is reversing plans to reduce its UK store count.

Underlying operating profits at the retailer for the year to March 29 were up 11.3% to £128.5m, while group sales climbed 3% to £1.53bn. UK like-for-likes rose 3%, compared with a 0.5% decline in 2013.
