The trade charity for the retail sector Retail Trust has appointed New Look’s executive chairman Alistair McGeorge as its chair of trustees.
McGeorge will take over from outgoing chair Terry Duddy in December and has over 20 years experience in the sector, having served as chief executive of both Matalan and Littlewoods.
McGeorge said: “The charity has for 186 years provided great comfort and support to everyone involved in retail. Over the last twenty years or more it has been my pleasure to support it in all of the businesses with which I have been involved.
“I thank Terry for his capable stewardship and look positively towards the future, taking the Trust forward at a time when its services are going to be needed and valued more than ever before.”
Duddy has stepped down after serving three years as chair.
The appointment of McGeorge follows on from the appointment of Brian Small, outgoing chief financial officer at JD Sports Fashion, as the Retail Trust’s treasurer in September.
