New Look has confirmed it has relocated its buying, merchandising and design teams to a new head office in London to better support its global growth plans.
New Look’s decision to move its staff from Weymouth to London has also been driven by the young fashion’s chain desire to attract top level industry talent.
New Look chief executive Carl McPhail said: “The issue for us is that as we grow internationally, we need to attract international talent too. In five years’ time, we want 20% of our business to be outside the UK.”
Up to 250 staff from the 500-strong Weymouth head office will be affected by the move, which is due to be completed by December 2009. New Look has entered a 90-day consultation period with its staff.
McPhail added: “We have a lot of talented people at the Weymouth office and hope that as many of them as possible will want to relocate. They will be offered attractive retention packages.”
New Look’s existing head office in London in Marble Arch will stay open in the short term but the plan is to merge the 75 employees into the new site.
“We’re looking at a number of sites at the moment and ideally we’d like to stay in central London,” said McPhail.
New Look’s HR, IT, finance and call centre groups will remain at the Weymouth office for the foreseeable future.
