New Look poaches Mango product director

New Look has hired Mango’s womenswear director, Rosa Gutierrez Sanchez, as a trend and design consultant.

Gutierrez Sanchez will work with the New Look buying, merchandising and design team on a contract basis, initially for three months, from 5 July.

Gutierrez Sanchez joined Mango in 2015, and before that spent 24 years at Inditex working as a buyer and then director at both Zara and Pull & Bear.

The news follows the appointment of Paula Dumont Lopez, formerly head of product at Zara Basic, as New Look’s new chief creative officer, which was announced earlier this week.

Dumont Lopez is currently senior vice-president and head of Esprit Woman and will join the board of New Look in September. She previously worked at Inditex for 10 years, joining as a fabric buyer for Zara Basic and working her way up to head of product for the same brand.

At New Look she will replace Roger Wightman, who will remain on the board and assume a part-time consultancy role. Wightman has worked at New Look for 27 years.

As exclusively revealed by Drapers earlier this month, New Look’s menswear director Christopher Englinde and women’s footwear, accessories and beauty director Amanda Wain have both left the business.
