New Look is understood to be in the process of restructuring its management board to help refocus the business.
The new role of UK managing director is expected to be created as a result of the rejig. Trading director Will Kernan is likely to be promoted, and could be in line for the UK MD role.
The shake-up aims to help New Look refocus on its core UK womenswear business, while its executive board continues to press ahead with international expansion and growing new product categories such as menswear and kidswear. The structure will also streamline the decision-making process, meaning New Look would be faster to react to developments.
A source said: “New Look has been running lots of different projects, such as kidswear, menswear and international growth, and now the management feels it needs to put someone in place who can refocus the business and manage direction for the UK chain.”
A second source said: “Trading has been tough. The restructuring will see several people promoted below the executive board to help refocus the stores and the proposition.”
A spokesman for New Look declined to comment on the speculation
