The government has issued further advice for businesses in the case of a no-deal Brexit.
Preparing for Changes at the UK Border After a No Deal EU Exit recommends all businesses trading with the European Union register for an Economic Operation Registration Identification (EORI) number. Businesses already importing and exporting with countries outside of the EU with an EORI number need not apply again.
The advice also recommends registering for transitional simplified procedures ahead of the leave date of 29 March. This will allow companies to reduce the amount of information they need to give when importing goods.
The UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT) has been analysing what the information will mean for fashion businesses.
It expects that UK brands will also have to pay EU VAT on trade show space, and it is currently unclear whether this will be reclaimable. The UKFT added that products carrying a CE mark that was registered with a UK certification body may have to reapply with an EU certification body.
