Children’s footwear brand Start-Rite has appointed Kate Tansley as product director.
Tansley previously held positions with Harrods, Tesco, TK Maxx and BHS. She left her most recent position as brand director at defunct furniture maker Multiyork, where she managed creative and brand strategies in addition to briefing on product design and development, last December. She began the new position at Start-Rite on 8 May.
Tansley said: “I am delighted to be joining the team at Start-Rite. I have a passion for product and design and I’m excited to be applying this to a new category. Children’s shoes are close to my heart and I’m looking forward to developing the product portfolio with our expert design and technical team.
“I’ve always been a Start-Rite customer. It is a brand that inspires trust through its great heritage and expertise. Our new brand positioning builds from this while refocusing on the pioneering spirit that was so central to Start-Rite in the past. We know kids and take a lot of time and care to understand what they need from their shoes as they grow and develop – that for me is what makes our design approach so refreshing.”
She will report into chief executive Ian Watson, and will manage the product, technical and design teams.
Watson said: “Kate boasts a very strong, category-focused background and will be instrumental in bringing our strategic vision to life. We’re delighted to have her on board.”
