New York Fashion Week continued this weekend with aviator and highland looks at Adam and a swathe of soft metallics and heavy texture from Diane von Furstenberg.
Adam embraced outerwear in its catwalk show on Saturday, with designer Adam Lippes trimming leather jackets with heavy sheepskin and long wool coats with huge fur cuffs. The focus on cold-weather pieces continued with heavy cable knit shrugs. Highland influences appeared through full-length plaid chiffon dresses teamed with over-size chunky knit cardigans an jumpers. Metallics featured on a studded velvet mini dress and a short gold waistcoat, which was teamed with a Grecian-look silk dress.
Femininity was the order of the day at Diane von Furstenberg who sent a plethora of floaty silk and chiffon dresses down the runway yesterday. Metallics played a strong role with glossy gold and midnight blue fabrics showing on dresses, tailored jackets and loose Capri pants and huge sequins and jewels adding detail. The designer also embraced embellishment for autumn 10. Tailoring was softened with heavily textured silk rose detail or all-over sequins while dresses ballooned out at the skirt into a wide fur trim.
