Newgen Men winners revealed

Designer labels Agi & Sam and Astrid Andersen have this season been added to the London Collections: Men line up after receiving Newgen Men sponsorship.

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has unveiled the seven menswear brands who will receive sponsorship to showcase their spring 14 collections at the menswear event, which will take place from June 16 to 18.

Lee Roach, Matthew Miller, Nasir Mazhar and Shaun Samson have also been awarded sponsorship to put on a catwalk show. Designer Martine Rose won a presentation sponsorship.

All the designers will receive business support to show at the three day menswear showcase in London along with mentoring support.

BFC chief executive Caroline Rush said: “The designers participating represent the best of Britain’s exceptional emerging talent and with support for six catwalk shows and one presentation; this season’s Newgen Men is set to be even more exciting than ever before.”

This season’s recipients were chosen by a committee of industry figures including Gordon Richardson, creative director of Topman, which sponsors the programme, and Sam Lobban, buyer at menswear etailer Mr Porter.

Gordon said: “The momentum, kudos and international support that London Collections: Men has gained so rapidly after such a small period of time plays testament to the quality of the British Fashion scene and the rising stars it is producing.”

He added: “NewGen Men is fundamental in the nurturing process and this season is stronger than any other season with all the designers but one having graduated from the Topman & Fashion East MAN event. Agi & Sam are definitely hot names to watch but I’m also really looking forward to seeing what Astrid has created for SS14”.
