Next is expected to release another disappointing trading update this week, as weak consumer confidence offsets a boost from the warm weather in March.
Forecasts suggest group sales will decline around 1.9% for the three months to the end of April, The Telegraph reports.
It is thought the late timing of Easter and warm weather in March failed to offset rising inflation, weak consumer confidence and the ongoing shift to leisure spending.
In March, Next boss Lord Wolfson admitted the retailer “took its eye off the ball” and introduced too many trend-led pieces into its collections, which contributed to a drop in sales last year.
