No annual bonus for Sainsbury’s bosses

Sainsbury’s senior directors including chief executive Mike Coupe did not receive an annual bonus last year after the supermarket failed to meet sales and profit targets.

Its annual report yesterday revealed Coupe’s pay package dropped to £1.5m in the year to March, down from £2m the previous year, when he was still commercial director. However, he was granted £458,000 worth of deferred share awards, which will pay out in 2017.

Coupe succeeded Justin King in July last year.
