Nominees revealed as Woolmark splits menswear and womenswear

The Woolmark Company has announced the nominees for the 2014/15 International Woolmark Prize, splitting the competition into menswear and womenswear for the first time.

Five regional awards will be held in Asia, Australia, Europe, India & the Middle East and the US, from which the 10 international finalists will be selected. Each of the international finalists receive $50,000 AUD (£28,000) as well as an invitation to participate in the international final.

The winners of both finals will receive an extra $100,000 AUD (£56,000). In addition, both international winners will have their collection sold through Woolmark’s global retail partners including Harvey Nichols in the UK, Joyce in China, Saks 5th Avenue in the USA, Collette in France, 10 Corso Como in Italy, My Theresa online and David Jones in Australia.

The European regional award will be held on July 8 in Paris, where the designers are required to present sketches of a Merino wool capsule collection comprising six outfits, with one full outfit to be produced.
