US luxury department store group Nordstrom has opened its website up to UK shoppers for the first time.
The retailer, renowned for its strong customer service ethos, has launched transactional sites in 11 currencies other than the US dollar and will ship to 30 countries.
Currencies available on the site, shop.nordstrom.com/international- shopping, include the euro, British pound, Polish zloty, Swedish krona and Danish krone.
Jamie Nordstrom, president of Nordstrom Direct, the retailer’s home-shopping arm, said: “We’ve made it a lot easier for customers abroad to shop from Nordstrom.com. Sending great fashion merchandise from Nordstrom to friends and family overseas is also more convenient than ever for domestic customers.”
Nordstrom, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, has 182 stores in 28 US states. The retailer reported a 6.5% increase in like-for-like sales in October. Total retail sales for the month increased 14.8% year on year to $607m (£246.3m).
