Ards Shopping Centre in Newtownards, Northern Ireland, is reconfiguring 45,000 sq ft of its retail space into four larger units, one of which will be occupied by TK Maxx.
The off-price retailer is taking a 23,000 sq ft unit that is due to open in September.
Value variety chain B&M Bargains has signed for a 10,000 sq ft shop as part of the redevelopment. The centre is in talks with another retailer and a cafe chain to take the remaining two units. The works will cost around £7m to complete.
Meanwhile, JD Sports is debuting in Newtownards with a 4,400 sq ft store at the centre.
Paul Devlin, asset manager of Ards Shopping Centre owner Belfast Office Properties, said: “The redevelopment and our significant investment is a direct response to the demand for Ards Shopping Centre from major UK brands.”
Group acquisitions manager at JD Sports, Warren Thompson, added: “The position of the Ards Shopping Centre as both a popular local and regional destination was very appealing to us. This new unit will provide us with the space we need to showcase our wide range of brands and the new expansion plan that will no doubt drive footfall to our store.”
