Obituary: Roger Pedder, former chairman of Clarks

Roger Pedder, the former chairman of footwear firm Clarks, has died aged 74 after a battle with leukaemia.  

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Sibella Clark-Pedder, five children and 12 grandchildren.

Pedder joined Clarks as a graduate trainee in 1963, before taking up various posts in retail marketing at companies including BHS and Burton.

Pedder rejoined Clarks in 1988 as a non-executive director and served as chairman between 1993 and 2006. He went on to become chairman of womenswear retailer Ethel Austin, Bargain Booze and Spa & Salon International.

His funeral will take place on Saturday October 10 at Quaker Meeting House, 36 High Street, Somerset, at 11am. Donations can be made to Onslow Ward, Royal Surrey County Hospital.
