Office CEO to retire

The chief executive of footwear retailer Office, Brian McCluskey, is leaving the business after 15 years.

McCluskey will retire at the end of his three-year contract with Office owner Truworths International, on 30 November.

Lorenzo Moretti, vice-president of gobal retail at consumer electronics company Sonos, will join the business as designate chief executive in October.

Before working at Sonos, Moretti held vice president and general manager roles at Nike Europe for five years, as well as senior roles at Gap, Tesco and Marks & Spencer.

Kerry-Lee Van der Merwe, who has been financial director of Office since June 2016, has been appointed chief financial officer with immediate effect.

Michael Mark, chief executive of the Truworths International Group, the South African fashion retailer that bought Office in 2015, said: “We are most thankful to Brian for his significant contribution to Office and we wish him well in his retirement. We also thank him for the lengthy advance notice he gave us of his intention to retire, which gave as ample time to choose a successor and to restructure Office for the benefit of its long term sustainability.

“During his period of leadership of Office he has developed its significant ecommerce platform, expanded outside of the UK and extended its product range.”

He added: “Lorenzo has spent over 25 years in the consumer retail industry and has a proven record of developing businesses and people. He led and implemented different customer propositions across all channels in many European and Asian countries, and has vast experience in all aspects of retail, including strategy, brands, sales, marketing, store development, visual merchandising, people and operations. We look forward to his heading up the Office executive team.”
