Buyers and exhibitors were in optimistic mood at the launch of Bread & Butter in Barcelona this morning, despite the fact attendance is likely to be down as the recession bites into travel budgets.
Brand bosses and buyers told Drapers that the Barcelona sunshine and an upbeat vibe at the Bread & Butter show made a refreshing change to the gloomy atmosphere in the UK.
Firetrap brand director Sjors Bos said: “I think the show is going to be busy. People in this climate have a need to get a real feel for the collection. We have a full agenda and when you are here and see blue sky after spending a Christmas in Britain it gives you a good mood. People will walk out [of the show] feeling re-energised about business this year.”
UK buyers from USC, Next and independents including Watford-based Banana Connection were already walking the halls this morning.
Bread & Butter’s Denim Hall was buzzing with visitors, however the Sport & Street and Urban Superior halls had got off to a quieter start.
