Optimistic mood at Pure London

Attendance at Pure London, the contemporary womenswear trade show, rose 9% year on year as it racked up a record number of visitors for a spring edition.

Sunday was a landmark day for the fair – which took place at London’s Olympia – with attendance up 11%, while on Monday visitor numbers climbed 4.6%. Tuesday’s numbers were up 27% on the equivalent day of last year’s August show.

Visitors to the event from overseas increased by 3.5%. Retailers who visited the show for more than one day rose 21%.

Independents including Psyche in Middlesbrough and Sunday Best in Rawtenstall, Lancashire, were in attendance, as were buyers from John Lewis and Selfridges.

Managing director of Emap Connect – organiser of Pure London – Steve Newbold said: “The show was overwhelmingly positive. Good businesses up the ante to do well in the current economic environment.”
