Original Factory Shop appoints Angela Spindler as chief executive

The Original Factory Shop has appointed former Debenhams managing director Angela Spindler as chief executive, replacing George Foster who will retire.

Angela Spindler, who was previously managing director of department store Debenhams, will join the discount chain on January 5.

George Foster, who joined The Original Factory Shop in 2005, will retire but remain an investor and non-executive director.

Angela Spindler said: "I am delighted to be joining The Original Factory Shop and look forward to playing a part in the future growth of the business. Consumers are increasingly looking for good quality products at great value prices and The Original Factory Shop is in a fantastic position to take advantage of the current market opportunity."

David Williams, chairman of The Original Factory Shop, said: "I am pleased to welcome Angela. Her experience, initially in consumer marketing and more recently as one of the UK's foremost retailers, is exactly suited to The Original Factory Shop and the significant opportunities we have to further develop our business. I'd like also to thank George for his immense contribution and we are delighted that he remains an investor and will be joining the board as a Non-Executive Director."

Before joining Debenhams, Spindler was managing director of supermarket brand George at Asda.
