Original Factory Shop sold for £68.5m

Value retailer Original Factory Shop has completed a £68.5 million management buy-out deal backed by private equity firm Duke Street Capital.

Original Factory Shop, which has 84 stores across the UK, will continue its plans to open between 15 and 20 shops every year.

Chief executive George Foster said the company's 145,000 sq ft warehousing and distribution centre is capable of servicing in excess of 200 stores. "It is an essential element of our growth strategy, providing us with the capacity to service our increased number of stores."

Barclays Private Equity bought the Original Factory Shop in 2004 for £40m.
