Orla Kiely strikes Japanese deal

Irish brand Orla Kiely has partnered with Fujii Co to launch its fashion, accessories and homeware lines in Japan.

Fujii Co, which has been marketing lifestyle brands for 90 years, will manage the launch and roll-out of Orla Kiely across Japan, using an omnichannel strategy built around a core internet proposition, with additional retail spaces in “prestigious” locations.

Dermott Rowan, Orla Kiely’s husband and the co-founder of her eponymous brand, finalised the deal with president of Fujii Co Kazuo Miyagawa during a recent trip to Japan.

Rowan said: “Mr Miyagawa is a great friend and he and his team have a superb understanding of the Orla Kiely brand. We’ve always found a strong appreciation for our brand in Japan; our partnership with Fujii Co is the perfect platform for reaching many more people.

“We’ve worked hard to establish Orla Kiely as a uniquely distinctive global brand and we couldn’t be more pleased about this big step forward in Japan.”

Orla Kiely is stocked in department stores across the globe, including John Lewis in the UK, Target in the US and Myer in Australia.
