Orlebar Brown sold to Chanel

Chanel has bought premium swim and resort wear brand Orlebar Brown from shareholders including private-equity firm Piper and the company’s founder Adam Brown.

Brown, who founded the business in 2007, will continue to lead the brand as creative director, alongside CEO Paul Donoghue.

Brown said: “It’s been an enormous pleasure working with the Piper team in building Orlebar Brown into a truly global luxury brand of which we’re all so proud. I’m extremely grateful for their hard work, attention and expertise and honoured that, in Chanel, we have found the perfect home for the brand to continue to thrive and grow.”

Piper, bought a minority stake in Orlebar Brown in August 2013.
