Outerwear brand London Tradition wins Queen's Award

Premium outerwear brand London Tradition has won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2014 for International Trade, recognising its success exporting to Europe and Asia.

The brand, which has a factory in Hackney Wick, has been cashing in on its London credentials by selling duffle coats from “Tuscany to Tokyo” according to co-founder Mamun Chowdhury.

“[Customers] want British culture with an international style – the ‘Made in Britain’ guarantee is at the heart of our continued success,” he added, noting that 90% of turnover comes from exports.

Japan is the firm’s biggest market, followed by Germany, Italy, France, Austria, Holland and Spain. The company has also begun trading in South Korea and Hong Kong.

London Tradition now plans to expand into other outerwear pieces, with a range of hats, scarves and trousers due for autumn 14.
