Retailers on London’s Oxford Street will host a series of in-store events during next month’s London Fashion Week as part of a three-year campaign to make LFW more inclusive.
The Oxford Street Fashion Showcase, which will take place from September 12-19, was launched last September by New West End Company and LFW organiser the British Fashion Council to open up LFW up to the public.
During the week, Oxford Street’s major retailers – including Topshop, Oasis, House of Fraser, Primark and John Lewis – will hold seminars in store on topics including buying and merchandising, education and digital innovation. Designer Jasmine Guinness and TV presenters Laura Jackson and Becca Dudley are among the line-up of speakers.
Retailers will present capsule collections of their new season styles during the week. Oxford Street will be decorated with 75 fashion-themed flags to mark the event.
The showcase will take place for a third and final time in September 2015. It forms part of a £25m five-year investment plan from the New West End Company to drive development in the district.
